Day 24 - We're ready to start the second fix carpentry, which will take approximately 2 weeks to complete on this project. Once completed, the decorating is finished, and the project is handed over.

Day 23 - The loft space can now be completely plastered. Door linings are fitted prior to plastering.

Day 22- The staircase is installed and we're ready to start plastering! This staircase was designed to match the existing ground floor staircase with diminishing spindles, we take great care in scribing the pine spindles into the oak handrail to achieve a high quality finish.

Day 20 - We can now concentrate on plaster boarding through out ready to be skimmed, once the ceiling and external walls are completed we can start erecting internal stud work. Cables and pipework are left accessible where required.

Day 19 - We finish insulating the loft space with celotex and thermal blanket to meet current building control regulations. Before we start plaster boarding we fit treated battens across the joist work, this creates a gap between the ceilings and walls in which air can circulate and keep damp from affecting the boards. we're now ready to start plaster boarding the internal walls.

Day 15 - 18. The dormer windows have been installed, and the fascia & soffit are fitted along the roof line. Treated tile battens are fixed, and we're ready to start tiling the dormers. We finish the week with all external works completed, including any additional works such as guttering and sealant where required. The scaffold can now be dismantled.

Day 13/14 - On this project, the front-facing existing roof has been stripped in order to replace the old felt with a breathable membrane and be re-tiled. We've cut and trimmed the roof with doubled rafters to accommodate installing 3 Velux windows. The windows are installed, and The skeiling is now ready for insulation.

Day 11/12 - The floor is insulated between the new joists, as the ceiling below is being over-boarded with fire check plasterboard we don't need to lay chicken wire to gain 30 min resistance (required with original lath and plaster ceilings to stop the insulation falling through in the event of a fire). The first fix plumbing & electrics have been completed at floor level and we are ready to lay the chipboard flooring.

Day 9/10 - Both dormer sections are fully framed out, and the flat roof is completed. The external walls are sheathed using 11mm OSB plywood, covered with a breathable membrane and the 1st layer of roofing felt is applied. We now have a water-tight site and no need for any temporary weathering solutions.

Day 8 - We begin the rear dormer construction by building the sections available without disturbing the temporary weathering. This will give us a good head start for the following day, when we will finish both dormers and apply the first layer of roofing felt. By getting the structure completed in 1 day, we can avoid the need for any more temporary weathering and ensure we are weather-tight moving forward.

Day 7 - External tiles are removed from the rear section roof eaves and we've installed the second double timber lintel. A timber plate is resin fixed to the opposing party wall and the rear dormer floor is now joisted. The rotten fascia board is removed and replaced, and we've hung the eaves tiles back in place. We're almost ready to start building the dormers.

Day 5/6 - The main dormer floor joists have been completed and packed centrally along the load bearing spine wall. Timber herringbone struts are added, which creates a much stronger flex resistant floor than traditional straight cut noggins. Finally, we coach bolt any double or connected timbers for strength. The rafters are notched to accommodate the ridge steel which is built into the party wall on an engineering brick padstone. On the chimney side, a timber post is packed

Day 3/4 - The ashlar wall is built and birdsmouth cut into the existing rafters; this allows us to remove the first purlin and spread the roof load onto the new beam. In this instance, the wall has been designed to allow for a 4" soil pipe to fit behind, negating the need for a macerator. We can now connect directly to the existing rear soil pipe by running under the floor. Lastly, we support the entire roof load and cut into the rafters at the rear; this gives us room to ins

Day 2/3 - The first run of joists have been hung from the new steel beam, galvanised strapping is screwed to the existing ceiling joists and connected to the beam to replace the removed existing binders. Finally the eaves storage is insulated and boarded with 18mm moisture resistant chipboard. We're now ready to build the ashlar wall.

Day 1/2 - Pockets have been drilled into the party walls, and engineering brick padstones have been installed for the first steel beam to rest on. Webbing timber has been coach bolted into the steel. We're now ready to start joisting the floor.

Day 1 - Site preparation. We've completely cleared the loft space of old insulation, removed any rubbish and hoovered between the existing joists to clear the dust and debris.
