Day 5/6 - The main dormer floor joists have been completed and packed centrally along the load bearing spine wall. Timber herringbone struts are added, which creates a much stronger flex resistant floor than traditional straight cut noggins. Finally, we coach bolt any double or connected timbers for strength. The rafters are notched to accommodate the ridge steel which is built into the party wall on an engineering brick padstone. On the chimney side, a timber post is packed from the spine wall to take the steel beam, allowing us to avoid drilling into the chimney stack.
